THE ATHLETIC ATTORNEYS WORKOUT CLUB:

how it works

Each week, members of the Workout Club receive a new Mission on our app: Three brief workouts to complete.

The workouts aren't just to say we worked out. They're designed to take you somewhere glorious.

Where exactly?

The stronger, leaner and impressively capable version of you - but without interfering with your life as a lawyer.

You pick the days you train. You pick the time. You pick where to get after it - at home, at the gym, or outdoors.

All there is to do is execute while the next week's Mission is loading.

It's hard to mess up. That's why lawyers inside the Workout Club are getting astonishingly fit.

You wanna know the "secret"?

The Workout Club delivers because it's designed for the life an attorney actually lives - not some fantasy world.

The Problem:

Here's why it's hard for most lawyers to figure out fitness on their own:

  • Chronic stress - from clients, judges, office politics and high stakes work

  • Diminished recovery capacity (because of that stress)

  • Serious cognitive demands that require you to be at your best essentially every waking hour

  • A merciless, unpredictable schedule (no matter how well you try to plan ahead)

Training itself is stress to your system. Like all things, the dose makes the poison.

Too much training - and it adds to the mountain of stress you're under. Your body will be too busy healing and getting back to baseline instead of actually becoming awesome.

But too little (or ineffective) training - you won't look like you workout at all!

"Conventional" training has a major flaw. The source is almost always genetically gifted (and often drug assisted) exercise addicts who have few real world obligations.

The ANTIDOTE:

Train in a way that gives you an athletic body AND compliments the life you actually live. Then you'll have something doable and repeatable (the only things that matter) - and killer results that speak without you saying a word.

The most valuable asset ANYONE can have is a strong, healthy body, and the fire to keep it up.

That's what you can expect from the Workout Club.

Why not you?

Keep reading to learn how we do it.

The Athletic Attorneys Code

Athletic Attorneys' weekly workouts are varied, but not random. We keep things fresh because life is too short to be bored.

What we don't do in our workouts is just as important as what we do. No matter what's on tap, it must stick to the code:

  • STAY SHARP
Your job has immense pressure and high stakes. Everyone is counting on you to be your smartest, sharpest self. They expect you to be perfect. When I design a workout, the mental realities of practicing law are the first thing I take into consideration. I know there's always a big day ahead of you. Our workouts will never drain you (they'll probably make you even smarter).
  • BANGERS ONLY
A big mistake people make is doing too many exercises in a single session. There are a lot of good exercises to do in theory. But there's no reason to cram all off the "good" exercises in a single week. We strategically rotate through different exercises and movement patterns over time. We only choose the exercises that give you the most bang for your buck. That's the key to not being a slave to the gym. When it's time to train, we don't hammer any single muscle group into oblivion. There's no fluff. Just a couple of money sets on the exercises that always deliver.
  • SUB 40
We love to train. But you wouldn't know it by looking at our weeks. We do just enough to improve...and then we get out of there. This should never take more than 40 minutes per session. Real progress comes from enthusiasm and consistency. The key is keeping workouts brief so the body craves exercise. You should be chomping at the bit to train again.
  • EARNED SWAGGER
You should leave every workout feeling better than when you started. This is not just physical. Self-pride can only come from a genuine challenge. Our workouts meet you at your ability level, whether you're new to the journey or a high-level athlete. They're no cakewalk. But they don't require heroic effort either. If you give a genuine effort, you will feel electric and accomplished after every single session.
  • FREEDOM
The Workout Club is designed to give you everything you "need" from a physical standpoint. It's enough on its own - but we purposely don't dominate your schedule if you have other hobbies. So when the world opens up, you can say yes without hesitation. We always encourage our members to use their bodies out in the world whenever they feel like it. And honestly, the leaner and more athletic you become, the more you want to USE your body doing fun activities. Hike, climb, play sports, ski, swim in a lake, go for a jog, walk and explore a new area...there's a lot you can do that isn't "training."
  • EYES ON THE PRIZE
That prize is to become an athletic and capable human. And keep things that way until the music stops. People might say they care about the long game - but watch what they do and you'll know for sure. Anything that puts the future at risk is simply not an option for us. So no risky exercises, no ego lifting, no chasing sloppy PRs...ever. There's no apathy either. We care a lot and go after what we want.
  • ANTI-FRAGILE
Needing a lot of equipment to be fit, needing to commute to a gym, needing to work out every single day or the world ends - these are all shackles that make you fragile. The goal of the Workout Club is to make your training approach bulletproof against life's circumstances. That's how you bring real results into your life. You're getting a system to get in incredible shape even during the most chaotic weeks. When you know how to do that - you're officially self-reliant. It feels really good.

How a week in the Workout Club is structured

Each week has just three training days.

Below is the proven system I've tested and developed over the years to become physically awesome without encroaching on (or becoming) my life.

It feels like a cheat code.

POWER DAY

Typically a slower paced day where we focus on getting stronger in critical movement patterns.

Your friends will probably start asking you to help them move couches. Up to you whether you say yes.

VITALITY
DAY

Here, we shift the focus to getting a lot done in a short amount of time - aka strength endurance.

These days are exciting because strength endurance adaptations come extremely fast.

Vitality Days give you irrefutable proof you're becoming a machine.

ENGINE BUILDER

This is usually some chill, steady state cardio to take care of the heart, improve aerobic capacity, and feel euphoric to take on the day.

If you hit most of these workouts most weeks—you'd surpass 90% of the population within 6 months. They are THAT effective and doable.

Now - if you have one of those outlier crazy weeks (i.e. you have a trial or a complicated closing or something) and can only get 1-2 days in that week, you'll still be good.

The system is specifically designed to be ultra-realistic for the VAST majority of a lawyer's year.

All of the days work together to deliver full-body mastery and make you a well-rounded athlete (who looks the part).
